NORWALK, CT, Feb. 8, 2024 – HMTX Industries announced the retirement of industry icon David Altman following 10 years with the company. Altman has held a variety of positions at HMTX, most recently serving as the Vice President of the Technical Services and Quality Assurance. Commented Russ Rogg, president of Metroflor Corporation, “Prior to joining HMTX, Dave had already established himself as one of the preeminent technical minds in our industry having worked in a multitude of leadership positions for Pergo, Beaulieu Commercial, Amtico and Uzin for many years. Dave has also been a member of industry associations such as NALFA, ASTM, MFA and RFCI as they addressed product performance and assurance standards in conjunction with ASTM and ANSI. We have been fortunate to have Dave on our team and he’s leaving us in good hands from a technical perspective. Please join me in congratulating him on his storied career.”
“It is hard for me to fathom, but It’s been almost 50 years since I began working in the floor covering industry,” said Altman. “Early on, I had no idea that my career would take me to so many places around the world, that I would meet so many wonderful people, and experience such diverse cultures. Nor did I expect to develop such a diverse background throughout my career.
“I love this industry and have so much to be thankful for. There are many individuals that have been instrumental in helping me to achieve my success along the way to thank, especially Harlan Stone, a true visionary, for encouraging me to join Metroflor Corporation/HMTX over 10 years ago, and HMTX Chief Sustainability & Impact Officer Rochelle Routman and Metroflor President Russ Rogg for their support, leadership and friendship. As I charter new waters into retirement, I look forward to opportunities in giving back to the industry that has been so good to me.”
With a strong succession plan in place, Altman will pass the torch to Jay Zurn, HMTX’s Director of Technical Support, who will lead the team efforts from the newly established facility in Milwaukee, WI. Altman commented, “I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring Jay Zurn over the last six years: a confident, logical and visionary thinker who has the ability to lead the Technical Services team for HMTX Industries, now and into the future.”
