NORWALK, CT, June 10, 2024 – HMTX Industries introduces The Frankie Collection of SRP™ Flooring: a non-vinyl, circular flooring product bred from innovations in design, sustainability, the circular economy, and technical design. The collection blends beauty and ingenuity with revolutionary innovations in flooring manufacturing. The Frankie Collection was named an Honoree in the 2024 Interior Design HiP Awards Hospitality Flooring category.
The concept-driven Frankie Collection was created by HMTX Design Director Briana Countryman to capture the combination of tone, playability and function that iconic musician Eddie Van Halen pieced together in a custom guitar with the most desirable elements of others into a single instrument – eventually creating what he aptly nicknamed the “Frankenstrat.”
The rock & roll-inspired Frankie Collection epitomizes Van Halen’s genius in both design vision and composition: hosting a classic, yet modern take on a concrete visual with a unique pattern embossing, inspired by the lines seen on Van Halen’s prized guitar. The custom emboss offers an inventive take on how design and emboss can play together in juxtaposition to create a truly captivating visual.
When Countryman designed The Frankie Collection, she pulled from a career-long desire to bring new and unique looks to flooring. “The topic of embossing always intrigued me,” she said. “I knew there was a way we could use it to do more than just accompany a decor.”
The Frankie Collection hosts a classic, yet modern take on a concrete visual with a unique, defined pattern embossing, inspired by the lines seen on Van Halen’s Frankenstrat. Noted Countryman, “So often stylized floors become abrasive and distracting to the eye, but by letting the emboss stand as the stylized element, the product becomes subtlety bold and undeniably unique, yet calmy comfortable.”
The Frankie collection is offered in 11 unique skus in both plank (8.66”x59.45”) and tile (18”x36”) formats – all with the revolutionary foundation of SRP TPU Flooring, a patent pending flooring solution that is designed to be circular. The collection is offered in both a 5.5mm SRP TPU Rigid Core Flooring and a 2.5mm SRP TPU Dryback Flooring.
SUSTAINABILITY AT ITS CORE
Two plastic bottles (PET) are upcycled into each square foot of SRP flooring to create a construction that can be ground up and transformed into an engineered thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) giving HMTX the ability to recycle each plank into new planks, making it a circular product. HMTX will provide pre-paid shipping materials to customers to return product (installation waste as well as post-use). Once returned, HMTX will pelletize the product and return to its factories for re-manufacturing into new SRP product.
The Frankie Collection of SRP has achieved Indoor Air comfort Gold, and FloorScore® certifications. HMTX is currently pursuing the following certifications and transparency documents for the collection: Healthcare Product Declaration, Declare, Environmental Product Declaration, Floorscore, Cradle to Cradle, GreenGuard Gold, Red List Free, Blue Angel, Nortic Swan and Carbon Neutral Status.
