NORWALK, CT, June 13, 2023 — HMTX Industries was honored by the Aquarion Water Company, serving the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, as its “2023 Environmental Champion” in the large business category. The June 3 event took place at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT, to celebrate the five winners. HMTX will receive a $5,000 grant to be given to a nonprofit organization(s) of choice. After the awards ceremony, a Zoo fundraiser took place featuring a silent auction in the carousel pavilion and local food and beverage vendors.
Each year, the Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards program honors businesses, nonprofit organizations, adults, and students for their outstanding volunteer efforts in conserving and improving the environment.
Said Senior Director of Community Engagement Rick Taylor, “Clearly the awards committee understood the significance of our new world headquarters on track to achieve the Living Building Challenge and the environmental benchmark it represents for the city of Norwalk and the State of Connecticut.”
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal was in attendance along with many other local officials from the surrounding communities. Recent past winners in the large business category include such prestigious Connecticut companies as Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney, and PSEG.
